Tom began his study of yoga 6 years ago with Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore style classes with Melissa Montilla. The instant gratification and peace of mind from the asana practice drew him further into the study of several styles of Yoga as well as investigations of the Yamas, Niyamas, and Pranayama. .
Tom has studied with Susan Perko, David Williams, Doug Swenson and Jaye Martin. He has also completed Yoga Works teacher training with Tsahi Moskovitz with an opportunity to explore anatomy, physiology, alignment, and yogic philosophy.
The strong connection between the breath and movement, which is the core of Ashtanga yoga, inspires Tom’s teaching. He also emphasizes the importance of carefully listening to the teacher within and using props and modifications to tailor the practice to fit individual body types and specific conditions.
